Hello everyone,
My first foray into the world of Apple was hackintoshing, as I wanted to experience macOS, but did not have a Mac of my own. It was far from as streamlined as it is now, but I met a lot of people who were willing to help me out. Eventually, I progressed to a point where I was able to give back myself, as part of Dortania.
Being part of Dortania has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. It started with hackintosh guides, and evolved into writing kexts and tools, and making contributions to other projects. Eventually, it led to co-founding OpenCore Legacy Patcher with Mykola, marking our entrance into the legacy Mac community. I am honored to have been part of a project that has helped so many people reuse their old hardware, and I leave it in capable hands to continue.
Eventually, I also joined the jailbreaking community, where I publicized delayed OTAs, developed Dahlia, and contributed to a number of other things. This led me to Hack Different, where we developed aeota as a group effort and researched various parts of Apple’s backend.
Alas, all good things must come to an end, and as macOS 27 spells the end of OpenCore Legacy Patcher, so does my time in these communities. I am proud to have been part of these communities and have made valuable friends and gained immense knowledge along the way. I know I have so much more left to give, but I will be doing that a different way: as an intern at Apple, starting in a week. I’m excited to see what the future brings.
Thank you all,
Dhinak
